1. Your lock has been tampered with
Scratches around the keyhole, loose hardware or a misaligned latch can mean someone tried to get in. Call the police first, then a locksmith to rekey or replace the lock and check the strike plate.
2. Your smart lock has failed
Dead batteries, software glitches and connectivity problems can lock you out of a smart lock. A locksmith can use the physical key override, help reset the unit or replace it.
3. A key broke off in the lock
Pushing the fragment further in makes extraction harder. Leave it and call. Extraction tools pull the piece out without forcing the cylinder.
4. Locked out with the oven on or a child inside
If anyone is in danger, call 911 first. For urgent situations without danger, tell the dispatcher so the call can be prioritized.
5. Keys lost or stolen
If your keys were stolen with your address, rekey the locks right away. Whoever has them knows where they fit.
6. Car lockout far from home
A mobile automotive locksmith comes to the car, opens it and can make a replacement key if the original is lost.
7. A door that won't lock
A door you can't secure for the night is an emergency. A locksmith can adjust the strike, repair the latch or fit a temporary lock.
